“ Nestled in the heart of downtown Greensboro, we stumbled upon Pangaea Bistro & Bar for the first time last weekend. We knew we wanted to experience something different and were delighted at the gem we found. Aptly named, Pangaea did not disappoint with its fusion cuisine. Blending bold flavors from Africa, the Caribbean, South America, and Asia (just some of the flavors we enjoyed), this bistro was a treat for our Friday-night-adventurous palates. The dim lighting, warm, rustic brick, high ceiling, and beautiful wood floors created an intimate yet urban-meets-cosmopolitan atmosphere. The noise level was not too loud or quiet, as everyone appeared to genuinely enjoy their evening. We began at the bar with Alex, the bartender. While my husband parked the car, I ordered two Old Fashions. I had never tried one, so I asked Alex to “make one I will like.” And did he ever! The Alex Smoked Cinnamon Old Fashion—or maybe just the Alex Special Old Fashion—got me hooked the first time! The smokey special was aromatic and smooth, with just enough smoke flavor to enhance the warm, spicy notes of cinnamon and sweetness. As for Alex, a bonus to being a creative and knowledgeable bartender was his very laid-back, engaging, personable style; he seemed to enjoy his craft thoroughly! We decided to sit at a table at the end of the bar and continue our evening with Alex as our Server and Bartender. And since it was our first time at Pangaea, we thought it would be fun to let him continue to guide our food-tasting experience... Our Starter was a yummy Scallop Rockefeller (cream spinach and crispy garlic). It was almost not enough, but as it turned out, it was perfect when we followed it with three small plates and one entree. We were there to do a taste testing of the delectable kind, and Alex did not disappoint! Our small plates: the Filipino Pork with Filipino adobo sauce and puffed rice; the Dodo—a sizeable, sweet plantain with chili flake, pickled red onions, hot sauce, and lime; and the Thai Cucumber and Snow Crab appetizer with a small cucumber salad of carrots, scallions, peanuts, Thai Chili, tomato, and corn. For our shared entree, we chose the Green Coconut Curry Pork Tenderloin, Pepita, cilantro, and a scoop of coconut rice. We were pleasantly surprised at the ample portion of mouth-watering pork medallions, cooked to perfection. We even took home leftovers. My only regret—we didn’t think to leave room for dessert (Molten Lava Cake next time!). We couldn’t have been happier with the bistro’s atmosphere, our drinks, the scrumptious food, the warm, friendly service, and the overall experience. We'll be back! Toni & John D. ”
“ If give them 20 stars if I could, food was delectable, flavorful, seasoned properly, and came in good timing. . Salted caramel porter was delicious and I don’t even drink beers or lagers (my boyfriend ordered it). Fish tacos and truffle fries with aioli so good I wanted to lick the plate. Sesame chicken wings 100/10, juicy, the sauce was freaking delicious...just go get you sumn to eat here. Great service, will definitely be back ”
“ Our first experience at Pangea was amazing! The small plates were creative and presentation was fantastic! The wine list is extensive and pairs well what is truly a globally inspired menu. Every plate was unique with outstanding flavor. Great to see great tapas-style restaurants re-emerging in Greensboro! Our waiter Alex was fantastic with a great personality and excellent recommendations. The owner stopped by several times to check on us and added a personal touch, giving us some history on the restaurant. Looking forward to going back! ”
“ We ate at Pangaea for the 1st time last night. It is clean, comfortable and a well run business. From the moment we arrived we felt taken care of. Our waiter, Brock, was pleasant, attentive, shared the details of each dish and gave excellent recommendations. The missing frog cocktail, complete with its own lily pad was a great start to the meal. All the food was cooked and presented well. The service flowed smoothly between courses. We enjoyed the melon salad, an unusual preparation of a familiar fruit and the entrees were delicious, especially the duck. If you like culinary creativity and time and attention given to your meal, this place is for you. Hard off to Pangaea for bringing this gem to Greensboro! ”
“ Pangea is a culinary gem that delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by their thoughtfully curated 3-course dinner, perfectly complemented by their expert pairing of South African wines. Every bite was a revelation—their soups, pork, steak, and salads burst with bold, nuanced flavors that left me craving more. If you’re seeking a restaurant that marries exceptional cuisine with impeccable service, Pangea is a must-visit. Highly recommended! ”
“ We visited Pangaea for the first time and were blown away. We were greeted by friendly faces and above and beyond service. Our server was very sweet and attentive. The owner and manager were personable and fully involved in their dinner service. We tried the mussels, the gnocchi, the wings, the scallops, the fish tacos, and the tuna bites. EVERY SINGLE PLATE WAS DELICIOUS! This is definitely going to be our new date night spot. I can’t wait to go back! ”
“ This place is exceptional all across the board. Greensboro has nothing like it. The atmosphere is sophisticated and fun. All staff is knowledgeable and warm. Multiple table checks from the owner shows he is proud of his business and cares about your experience. All of this on top of the unique, outstanding dishes makes an incredible experience. This is one of our new favorite spots for sure!! ”
“ 5 Stars all day long!! The service at Pangaea Bistro & Bar was amazing - food & drink top notch! My daughter and I dined 3 times while down in the area for the Junior Olympics track meet. What a find in Greensboro NC!! Highly recommend starting with the "Alex Fashion", a hip take on an old fashion. Cool vibe and a gem - thank you for making this such a memorable experience while visiting from Boston!! ”
